The core philosophy of Shugendo practice can be summarized in one word: "Uketamo(受けたまわる)," meaning "I humbly accept with an open heart."
UKETAMO, I accept all with an open heart
Hotel Uketamo, a new brand of FH Group, is named after the philosophy of Uketamo, which originated from Mount Haguro in Yamagata Prefecture, Japan. The first character "嵨" is inspired by the three legged crow of Yamagata lore that led Prince Hachiko to Mount Haguro, the spiritual center of the Yamabushi. 開 is portrayed by the Tori outside the doors of civilization, reminding us to open our doors to welcome the peaceful understanding found in nature. Together, they represent the spirit of Uketamo in Mount Haguro. represents a crow perched on a mountain, symbolizing the spiritual retreat.
Roots
The inspiration comes from the Three Sacred Mountains of Dewa (Dewa Sanzan) in Yamagata Prefecture, Japan. Dewa Sanzan is one of the three major sacred sites of Japanese Shugendo, with a history spanning over 1,400 years. In the spiritual experience, the three mountains represent the past (Mt. Gassan), present (Mt. Haguro), and future (Mt. Yudono), allowing yamabushi ascetics to complete their natural trials while achieving spiritual rebirth.The mountains' essence is captured through refined lines. Beyond representing UKETAMO's rich cultural foundation, it also symbolizes the energy waves of nature. Through warm and gentle frequencies, it releases stress and eliminates life's irritations, resonating mindfully with nature while emanating nature's unique vitality and rhythm, allowing both body and mind to achieve transcendence and balance.

To bring this purity into the heart of Taipei, we partner with RIA Environmental Technologies to introduce world-class healthy-building systems: ifD electrostatic purification and BPI bipolar ionization in our central air; in-room sterilizers proven to suppress up to 99.92% of viruses; and GE G+ nano-membrane water filtration delivering safe, mineral-rich drinking water throughout the hotel.
